This is the reality that 40-year-old Rita Shahi, a resident of Bhimukteshwor near Bishnumati bridge, Teku, has been facing for the past eight years now. When she feels the nature’s call, getting to the nearest toilet seeks solution to a tough challenge for the day. “Whenever possible, I rush to one of the public toilets nearby. At other times, toilets at the vegetable market in Kalimati serve to my needs of urgency.

सिर ३, २०७५ - सरकारले ‘समृद्ध नेपाल सुखी नेपाली’ को नारा घन्काउँदै आर्थिक समृद्धिको योजना अघि सारिरहँदा मुलुकमा भने अझै शत प्रतिशत जनता शौचालयको सहज पहुँचमा पुग्न सकिरहेका छैनन् । आर्थिक विकास मात्रै नभई सभ्यताको सूचकको रुपमा समेत मानिने शौचालय सबैको घर–घरमा बन्न सकेको छैन । मुश्किलले ६० वटा जिल्ला मात्रै खुल्ला दिसा मुक्त जिल्ला घोषणा भएका छन् । सरकारले सरसफाई र जनतामा चेतना स्तर बढेको बताइरहँदा अझै ८ प्रतिशत बालबालिका झाडापखलाको प्रकोपबाट आक्रान्त छन् ।
