A rewarding experience

It was really daunting task to exhibit the posters on rainwater harvesting at Nepal Art Council, Babar Mahal.  We didn’t have enough experience, time and budget to carry out the project. But, we were determined that every thing would go well.

On 22nd March, World Water Day we exhibited the international posters on rainwater harvesting received from International Rainwater Harvesting Alliance (IRHA) and 15 posters of the Nepali Youth at GUTHI (NYG) members. The event was going well but hasty heavy rain gave us nuisance. The flow of people all of a sudden decreased due to which the event didn’t go well as I have expected. The presentation of the posters on the bamboo stands was falling due to downpour.

Almost all our posters were damaged due to rain in the first day exhibition. So we reprinted them for the second exhibition. On 24th March we exhibited them at National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), Satdobato for the second time. Our presentation of these international poster gained applaud as there was significant flow of attendees. Many people gave their opinion and remarks about our exposition. It was a moment to cheer when a visually impaired person came to our stall and we were able to explain him the message of the posters and objective of our campaign.

We took the exhibition to a training event on 28th March organized for the climate change at Nepal Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC), Satdobato by Global Power Shifter (GPS). There were around 100 participants. The youth participants enthusiastically welcomed it.

We didn’t stop doing exhibition again on 31st March. The posters were on display in joint sector review (JSR) conference on WASH at Godavari Village Resort. We were also able to sell some of the posters during our campaign.

The main purpose of doing this mobile exhibition was to create awareness on rainwater harvesting system and disseminate its benefit among people. In the recent period people around the world are facing water scarcity issues. So, harvesting rain would help to cope the water scarcity. There were few more invitations to exhibit ourworkbut due to our college schedule we couldn’t attend those places.

Mobile exhibition of international posters on rainwater harvesting ended with a lot of appreciation and with more than 500 viewers at four different places. We the seven members of Nepali Youth at GUTHI (NYG) carried out this exhibition. Biogas Support Partnership (BSP) Nepal, IRHA, Nepal Rainwater Harvesting Alliance (NeRHA), SMART Pani, Climate+Change, National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), GPS supported us to make our project successful. I would also like to thank all the associates that have directly or indirectly supported us to make the event amazing.
