KATHMANDU, June 4: Chief Secretary Leelamani Poudyal on Wednesday participated in the cleaning of Thamel-based historic stone spout (Gahiti) area.
The program was arranged by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City on the occasion of Sithi Nakha, a cultural festival of the Newar community in the Kathmandu valley, which means keeping water resources clean. On the occasion, the Chief Secretary underlined the need of protecting the festival and conserving water sources as well. He urged all the town dwellers to keep their locality clean and give the message of a civilized citizen.
Metropolitan City executive director Dhan Bahadur Shrestha said the celebration of the festival is for revitalizing it. The metropolitan city is always ready to cooperate with the locals if they gear up for making their locality clean, he said. All 35 wards of Kathmandu Metropolitan City were cleaned today with the collaboration of Nepal Police, Nepal Army and locals on this occasion.
