KATHMANDU, JUN 07 - Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) on Saturday organised an exhibition on rooftop gardening, one of its acclaimed campaigns, in order to promote household greenery. The exhibition hosted stalls from people, who have cultivated vegetables on their rooftop, and other experts in the field.
According to Rabin Man Shrestha, chief of the Environment Division at the KMC, around 5,000 people visited the one-day exhibition. “This is a good turnout of visitors, which has encouraged us to do more in the future,” he said. The exhibition focused on promotion of greenery and food security in the Capital.

Around 500 households in various wards of Kathmandu have turned their vacant rooftops into gardens and even grown fruits and vegetables since the campaign was launched last year.
