Menstrual Hygiene Orientation and Material Distribution in Thankot

Menstrual hygiene is a critical aspect related to women’s health. After the earthquake, while everyone is struggling for food and existence, there is also necessity to aware young adolescent and women about menstrual hygiene. For the same reason a team of 3 members from Guthi (Nisha Aryal, Biamala Gurung and Shanti Timalsina) and Kumari Mam  reached Thankot .

Things done in Thankot:

  • Orientation about menstrual hygiene to more than 40 affected adolescent girls and 30 women due to earthquake.
  • Handover of relief material to young girls and keeping the record.
  • List and contact details of interested young girls so that in second phase, a group can be formed to advocate about menstrual hygiene in the community school of Thankot.

A total of 80 packages were distributed which consisted of sanitary napkin, female underwear, toothpaste and toothbrush. 40 packages were distributed to adolescent girls and 30 for women.
