My son Dropped out from the school

“My youngest son dropped out as I was sick and he had to take care of me though I would like him to continue his education.”

Hello! My name is Shova Suman. I am forty five year old but look older than my actual age. I have been living in Bansighat since I got married, adding it up it sums to 22 years of my life. In the initial days of my married life, the stinging smell from the nearby polluted river was quite irritating. The constant dumping of waste materials and fecal sludge mixing are the main reasons. But now, I have already adapted to the smell. I am no longer bothered by its smell.

My husband actually shared that he settled in Bansighat from Lagan, his previous place because he could not pay for the rent while here, in Bansighat, the rent was cheap. Now, we have a house. Even though, our shelter problem is solved we do have the problem of water and employment.

In terms of water, I have to go to fetch the water from the nearby pond during night, waiting for my turn as during day, the water there is no sufficient water or I go to collect water from the nearby water storage tank. In return, I pay NRP. 10.00 Per liter. I cannot afford to purchase commercialized water jar for NPR. 50.00. I do filter the water before I consume it. Meanwhile, from the economic perspective, I have to say that my family is having financial difficulties. My two sons do earn but working for someone else limits us to receive money when we actually need it. On the other hand, two of my other sons are looking out for jobs but they are not able to find any. I too do not have any job. With more expense than income, the economic instability is sure to occur.

Since I have lived in the same neighborhood for the past twenty two years, I love living here. The only problem is water and employment issues. Now, with the Bagmati Clean Up campaign going on massively, the government has planned to build in fecal sludge drainage line too and I am happy about it. Hopefully water and employment issues are solved and every people living in Bansighat get happy.
