Diarrhoea outbreak hits Tanahun residents

Diarrhoea outbreak has hit three dozen people for the past two days at Pokharitar of Anbukhaireni Rural Municipality in Tanahun.

Senior Assistant Health Worker Agamraj Upadhyay at Anbukhaireni Health Post said contaminated water had caused diarrhoea outbreak among the Dalit and ethnic communities of the rural municipality.

According to Upadhyay, 28 persons from 35 families were suffering from diarrhoea.

A team of health workers deployed from Anbukhaireni Health Post has been closely observing on the diarrhoea affected locals from yesterday.

Focal person Aishwarya Bhattarai said a team of health workers led by Dr Prakriti Bhattarai had reached the  rural municipality today. Upadhyay said they supplied chlorine to purify the polluted water at water sources in the village.

District Health Chief Dr Pawanjung Rayamajhi said a team of the health workers was dispatched immediately after they received the report about the outbreak. Rayamajhi said diarrhoea was detected among the locals because of the water they had consumed after the rainfall.

Anbukhaireni Rural Municipality chair, vice-chair and other members made a field observation of the diarrhoea-hit area and took stock of the situation today.
