Women-friendly toilet in city stressed
Canadian Deputy High Commissioner to India, with concurrent accreditation to Nepal and Bhutan, Deirdre Kent suggested that public toilets should be more women-friendly.Kent said so during a field visit to a recently built ‘environmentally, socially and economically sustainable’ public toilet at Ratnapark today. She said though public toilets were essential for everyone, concerned agencies should focus on building infrastructure suitable for women.

काठमाडौ : काठमाडौ महानगरपालिकालाई आगामी भदौ २० गतेभित्र ओडिएफ गर्न आवश्यक मापदण्ड र शर्तहरु पूरा गराई खुला दिसामुक्त घोषणा गरिने भएको छ । महानगरपालिकालाई खुला दिसामुक्त घोषणा गर्न अनुगमन गर्न बनेको अनुगमन समितिको बैठकले महानगरपालिकालाई भदौ २० गतेभित्र खुला दिसामुक्त घोषणा गर्ने निर्णय गरेको हो ।

First bio-gas plant set up at Ratnapark has started producing gas.
Bio-gas produced from human waste collected from public toilets at Ratnapark has helped shopkeepers generate better income.
Chandra Yogi, who has bagged the contract to manage public toilets in the area, said that bio-gas produced using human excreta had created job opportunities.
